The month of June holds an important milestone in Missouri’s history. We were established as a territory on June 4, 1812, which was an essential step in creating the state that we will be celebrating in 2021.
June 2016 will also mark a significant step in our planning for the Missouri Bicentennial Celebration. This month the State Historical Society of Missouri is accepting applications for a newly created position of education outreach coordinator. This individual, charged with developing communications and programs to promote the teaching of Missouri history and culture, will play an important role in preparing for Missouri’s 200th birthday. The new full-time position at SHSMO will focus on a variety of educational outreach activities including the upcoming bicentennial celebrations.
If you know a dynamic individual with a background in coordinating outreach, please encourage them to review the job description available online. They may also contact the State Historical Society of Missouri directly for details. SHSMO is accepting applicants now through June 25 (or until filled), so please share the details with your network soon. Thanks for your help during this exciting time for our state.
