Texas County Bicentennial Quilt

After a county wide meeting presenting options for participation in the 2021 Missouri Bicentennial, our Community Betterment and Arts Council group  chose to participate by assembling a Texas County quilt similar to the Missouri Bicentennial Quilt and invited anyone in Texas County to submit a quilt block. After receiving eight quilt blocks, with the help of the SCC Restorative Justice creative quilt block makers, we were able to complete and add another 24  blocks for the quilt. The blocks include, the Texas County Seal, all seven school district mascots, Trail of Tears, Mark Twain Forest, Piney River, Lone Star, Deer, Turkey, coneflower, religious symbols, 76 Biking trail symbol, CB symbol, 2020 census, Houston Area Chamber of Commerce and other pictures representing our county. The first public showing will be on December 5 and 6, 2020, at the Melba Performing Arts Center, Houston, Mo in conjunction with the Missouri State Quilt.
