The Great Ancestor Hunt
As we approach the Missouri Bicentennial, the Stone County Historical/Genealogical Society encourages ninth- and tenth-grade students in Stone County high schools to participate in the Great American Ancestor Hunt. Students will write an essay of 500-1500 words telling about their families and how they lived and create a visual family tree. Students are encouraged to talk with older relatives to learn what life was like in the rugged terrain of Stone County when they were young. Stone County Historical/Genealogical Society will offer first and second prizes to students in each school as well as a countywide prize, based on student work, awarded at the end of school assemblies in 2020.
