Appleton City Sesquicentennial Celebration
This is a 4 day celebration of the town’s 150 year postponed from last summer–the new dates are Thur-Sunday August 12-15, 2021. Festivities will include:

exhibits
displays of area artists
photos
forty-one-minute documentary
costume and whisker contests
an app tour of Main Street and historic homes
free nightly entertainment
and much more!
Food choices will be available daily. Souvenirs and a 506-page history book of the town and its families will be available for purchase.
Appleton City Sesquicentennial Whisker Contest
Join us on August 12, 2021, during Sesquicentennial, for a very special Whisker Contest! In the beginning years of the town, it was common place for men to have various types of facial whiskers. There will be categories for existing whiskers (started before 2021) and new whiskers (started after January 1, 2021). All types of facial whiskers will be displayed.
Appleton City Sesquicentennial History Documentary Premiere
The Appleton City Sesquicentennial Historical Documentary will be shown in Forest Park at dark (around 7:15pm). Bring your own seating and snacks. The film documents of the history of Appleton City since before the railroad tracks in 1870, when the Indians would have passed through the area, until today. SQC Committee for this event is the Appleton City Museum.
Appleton City Sesquicentennial Stamp Cancellation
The Appleton City Sesquicentennial Stamp Cancellation is in celebration of the Railroad arriving to build tracks exactly 150 years ago in 1870. On September 10, 2020, the Appleton City MO Postmaster will be cancelling US Stamped items for mailing at the Depot Station 12:00-2:00pm.
